Musculoskeletal (MSK) injury remains the #1 cause of disability in the world and the number #1 cause of workplace absence.
30% of people have a musculoskeletal condition, and a non-compliant workstation can make an MSK condition worse.
In Ireland there are 14 million absentee days per year, 50% of which are attributable to musculoskeletal related issues - that’s 7 million absentee days!
Our team of ergonomic assessors is made up of Chartered Physiotherapists and Physical Therapists who all hold additional training in Ergonomics and Health and Safety, and specialise in injury prevention, body position and posture.
Our experts can assist you in keeping up with the developing needs of the modern workplace and supporting the health and wellbeing of your employees as they navigate remote, hybrid and in-office working.
Our end-to-end ergonomics service is suitable for in-office, hybrid and remote work environments across Ireland and the UK, and includes:
A digital self assessment questionnaire to identify initial risks and specific needs for each employee
Comprehensive VDU/DSE workstation assessment consultations, and specialist assessments for those who are high risk
A custom reporting and analytics dashboard
Additional tailored E-learning resources for employees
Access to a live diary for self-service booking options
Employee completes a 5-10 minute digital assessment questionnaire to help us understand their current working environment and any possible risks or specific needs. Our in-house algorithm, created by Physiotherapists with expertise in Ergonomics and Human Factors, creates detailed report for the employee, along with some relevant tips and e-Learning resources.
Our expert ergonomic assessor will carry out a comprehensive 30-minute assessment of the employee’s workstation, rectifying any issues and offering advice and recommendations. If the need for a specialist assessment is identified in step 1, a 45-minute specialist assessment will be carried out at this stage.
The client Company receives access to an easy-to-use, customised reporting and analytics dashboard that allows them to gather insights, spot patterns, export data and action any issues or risks in relation to employees’ work environments, equipment or specific needs - all at a glance!
Ergonomics is an applied science concerned with the design and arrangement of things that people use to ensure they interact most efficiently and safely.
Simply put, good ergonomics ensures that an employee’s workstation and environment are fit safely and optimally to their unique body, rather than forcing a fit the other way around!
Complying with national and international workplace standards, and legislation including the HSA’s Manual Handling and Display Screen Equipment Guidance, is the responsibility of the employer. By enforcing a fully compliant working environment you are:
Promoting a happy, healthy & pain-free workplace
Improving productivity & reducing pain-related absenteeism
Letting your employees know that you care about them & their health & wellbeing
Avoiding the risks associated with non-compliance

“I found Brian and the Team at Spectrum Ergonomics to be extremely professional and delivered exactly what they promised to Codex and its staff. The assessments were practical and were delivered with great enthusiasm, expertise and in a very relatable manner so that all our staff could see the benefits. All the accompanying materials and communication was really practical and the feedback from staff on the assessments and follow up was extremely positive.”
“Thank you so much for doing the ergonomic assessment recently. I just wanted to let you know that after your initial tweaks to my chair I felt much more comfortable in my home office. I have also changed the chair since and it has made a huge difference to my day. I would definitely recommend this service from Spectrum. Thanks again.”
“I have been remote working for a year now and had developed some pains and discomforts based on my desk setup. I was pleasantly surprised with how well my assessment went with the Ergonomist. He advised me how to re-position my screen, chair, mouse, and even how my arms should be angled while working. Over the course of a couple of weeks of practicing these instructions my discomfort faded completely. I’m now acutely aware of how to position myself and my equipment while I work and feel much better for it.”
